Cet article étudie les liens des Iquichanos avec l’administration vice-royale, leur
participation au processus de l’Indépendance du Pérou et les raisons de la
prolongation de la rébellion Iquichana. De l’analyse de sources non publiées,
nous considérons que les Iquichanos se sont identifiés à la couronne espagnole
pour avoir certains privilèges. Durant l’indépendance, ils ont vaincu la rébellion
de Cuzco de 1814 et harcelé les forces de Sucre. Vers les premières années du
gouvernement républicain, ils ont mené une rébellion non seulement pour des
raisons économiques, mais aussi parce qu’ils étaient touchés par les
réorganisations juridictionnelles et l’interdiction de leurs expressions culturelles.
