Cet article examine la présence de l´écrivain mexicain Alfonso Reyes dans les revues culturelles argentines pendant son séjour diplomatique dans ce pays (1927-1930 et 1936-1938). L´analyse des représentations discursives et iconographiques permet de démêler les sens associés à sa mission diplomatique et considérer les transvasements entre l´opinion publique et les cercles de sociabilité intellectuelle. On soutient que, dans la plupart des cas, les interprétations ont renforcé la double représentation de l´écrivain diplomatique. Dans ce but, on a cherché à dilucider les connotations dans le domaine culturel et politique argentin.
