Les gouvernements qui ont émergé de la révolution mexicaine ont prolongé les discours régénératifs visant à la création d’un nouvel homme. Un projet qui avait dans les hommes entreprenants et les jeunes hommes actifs leurs architectes désirés pour transformer le pays, à condition qu’ils aient réussi à mettre en évidence leurs caractéristiques viriles devant les autres hommes, leur homologue, distingués par la faiblesse physique et la passivité. Le Chiapas n’était pas étranger à ces discours où l’idéal masculin, normatif souhaité, est illustré avec l’intention de discipliner le corps par des mesures considérées comme régénératrices telles que l’éducation, le travail et l’activité physique.
