Cet article analyse l’œuvre A Diplomat’s Wife d’Edith Coues dont l’époux, Nelson O’Shaughnessy, fut chargé d’affaires à l’ambassade des États-Unis au Mexique d’octobre 1911 à mai 1914. Source d’une richesse extraordinaire pour l’histoire diplomatique et des relations internationales, en particulier des relations Mexique - États-Unis, elle présente l’interprétation qu’Edith fait en tant qu’observatrice participante des processus historico-sociaux du monde diplomatique durant la dictature de Huerta. Afin de mieux appréhender la complexité du texte, notre analyse, réalisée par trois approches qui privilégient la perspective internaliste, se concentre sur la publication plutôt que sur l’auteure.
