Dans le texte qui suit, je me propose de construire la biographie politique de Santos Degollado, qui a joué un rôle très important dans le processus d’implantation du projet libéral instauré au Mexique par Benito Juárez et le groupe dirigé par ce dernier. Cette étude est pertinente pour deux raisons : tout d’abord parce que l’histoire personnelle de Degollado coïncide avec l’époque de formation du Mexique comme nation politique et, en deuxième lieu, parce que nous considérons qu’il est possible de réaliser, à partir de l’histoire biographique des personnages, l’analyse de moments-clés qui déterminent leur influence dans un contexte donné. Cela nous permet une meilleure compréhension des processus généraux à partir d’une démarche particulière.
