Los gobiernos surgidos de la Revolución mexicana extendieron discursos regeneradores destinados a la creación de un nuevo hombre. Un proyecto que tuvo en los hombres emprendedores y jóvenes activos a sus deseados artífices para transformar al país, siempre que lograran resaltar sus características viriles frente a otros hombres, su contraparte, distinguidos por la debilidad física y la pasividad. Chiapas no fue ajeno a esos discursos donde el ideal masculino, deseado normativo, se ejemplifica con la intención de disciplinar el cuerpo a través de medidas consideradas regeneradoras como la educación, el trabajo y la actividad física.
