Por medio del estudio de la narrativa sobre el sitio de Puebla de 1863 en las novelas El Sol de Mayo y Episodios Nacionales Mexicanos, el artículo busca mostrar cuáles fueron las razones por las que en solos se construyó una visión negativa del general Jesús González Ortega, personaje a quien la prensa de la época alabó por haber sido partícipe de una de las â€œpáginas más gloriosas de la historiaâ€. Esta visión negativa fue producto del descrédito político imputado al general, pues no se le perdonó que buscara suceder a Benito Juárez en la presidencia.
