En este trabajo se hace un exámen a la producción historiográfica
que se ha realizado sobre tres personajes distinguidos del sur de
México (actual estado de Guerrero) que participaron militar y
políticamente en los procesos independentista y republicano. No sólo
se cuantifica la obra histórica que los describe sino que se hace una
valoración de sus alcances y su real aportación. Se percibe el
desequilibrio de la producción en cuanto a cantidad y condición,
tratando de identificar los anhelos intelectuales que la originaron. El
artículo define que el grueso de esta producción mantiene un mismo
soporte metodológico y apreciativo.
